Rensselaer Central Elementary Schools have always pledged to create a safe and stimulating environment for all learners. In an effort to continue to improve our school climate, our staff has worked together to implement a framework called "Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports", or PBIS. This framework is based on our three core expectations of: Be Kind Be Safe Be a Learner
Additionally, we are implementing a school-wide behavior management system that has students moving a clip on a chart to a new color if they have to be reminded about proper behavior. There are six colors, as follows:
Purple = ROYALTY STATUS, student is exhibiting exceptional behavior Green = GREAT DAY, student is performing as expected (starting place each day) Yellow = WARNING, behavior needs to be corrected immediately Orange = COOL IT, student thinks about their choices Red = LOSS OF PRIVILEGE, student loses recess or special activity Blue = OFFICE REFERRAL, student will visit the office and parents will be contacted by an administrator ** Students need to be responsible for their choices in every situation. Exceptional responsibility and behavior are rewarded in various ways!**
